Dr. Jannatul Ferdous is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Administration at Comilla University, Bangladesh, where she has been serving since 2014 in various academic and administrative capacities. She holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Dhaka, with a dissertation examining citizens’ trust and good governance in local government institutions. She also earned her M.Phil., MSS, and BSS degrees in Public Administration from the same university. 

Dr. Ferdous’s research spans a wide set of interdisciplinary fields, including migration, governance, public administration, public health, gender, and globalization. Her academic scholarship focuses particularly on how institutions, mobility, and governance intersect to shape socio-economic outcomes in South Asia.

She has made significant contributions to migration and development studies through her extensive publication record, which includes over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous book chapters, and several edited and authored books with prestigious global publishers such as Routledge, Springer, Palgrave Macmillan, Cambridge University Press, and Rowman & Littlefield. Her research is widely recognized for its policy relevance, especially in the areas of migration governance, gender diaspora studies, digital service delivery, and social protection.

Dr. Ferdous has held distinguished academic appointments internationally. She served as a Visiting Scholar at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in 2023 and was appointed Visiting Professor at the Centre for Peace Studies (CPS) in Sri Lanka for the period 2025–2028. She is also an Associate Member of the Women Researchers Council (WRC) at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).

Dr. Ferdous’s professional engagements extend beyond academia. She has contributed significantly to national and institutional development initiatives, having served as Convener of the Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell at Comilla University, External Member of the same cell at the University of Barishal, Bangladesh, Chair of the Technical Committee for the UN Women–supported Combating Gender-Based Violence project (2019–2023), Treasurer of Comilla District Rover Scouts, and Assistant Proctor of Comilla University. She has also led and participated in multiple funded research projects supported by institutions such as UGC, NILG, SSRC, RDA, NAEM, BPATC, and NAPD.

Dr. Ferdous has remained committed to advancing knowledge, promoting gender equality, strengthening governance systems, and supporting evidence-based policy reforms. Her scholarly contributions, leadership roles, and international engagements position her as one of the leading young public administration and development scholars in Bangladesh and the broader South Asian region.
