Dr Kamrun Nahar (Shila) is an Associate Professor at the Comilla University’s Department of Bangla.
After completing her BA (Honours) and MA at the University of Chittagong, she did a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the same department. She then obtained her Doctor of Philosophy(PhD) degree from the University of Dhaka. Actively engaged in both educational and research activities, her papers have appeared invarious national and international conferences and journals. She has also led many teacher-student collaborations besides actively contributing to suchresearch projects herself. Dr Nahar has also inspired many students to devote themselves to the art of creative writing.
She is also an award-winning short story writer. Her debut short story collection 'Lalbeji' (The Red Mongoose) was awarded the prestigious Kali O Kalam Young Writer Award in 2019. The same year, she also compiled a poetry collection titled 'Mandakranta', which featured poems written in Sanskrit Mandakranta rhythm by the students of her department’s 9th batch. Her second book Jolovromi (The Whirlpool) was published in 2022, and her third book Boomerang came out in 2025, both earning critical acclaim. In the same year, she edited Kothashilpo, a little magazine dedicated to fiction, and in its first issue, she compiled a collection of short stories by a group of students from the Department of Bangla at Comilla University. This initiative with her students has enriched the scope of literary practice at the university.
