Dr. Mithun Kumar Das has been serving as a Professor in the Department of Physics at Comilla University since 28 December 2025. Before this, he worked as an Associate Professor from 27 june 2021 to 27 December 2025, Assistant Professor from 13 November 2016 to 26 June 2021, and as a Lecturer from 13 November 2013 to 12 November 2016 at the same department. He began his academic career as a faculty member in Physics at the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER), Savar, Dhaka, under the University of Dhaka, from 1 April 2012 to 12 November 2013.
Dr. Das earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science in March 2021. His research interests and areas of specialization include multiferroics, composites, magnetic and ferroelectric materials, solid-state physics, and materials science. Committed to advancing physics education and research, he has actively contributed to both teaching and scholarly pursuits.
To broaden his academic exposure, Dr. Das has participated in several national and international conferences, including the 16th Conference of the Asian Crystallographic Association at Utown, National University of Singapore, and the IUCr Congress 2017 in Hyderabad, India. His research excellence has been recognized through several prestigious awards and fellowships, including the Young Scientist Award at both the 16th Conference of the Asian Crystallographic Association (National University of Singapore) and the IUCr Congress 2017 (Hyderabad, India), the Vice Chancellor Award for Research Contribution, Comilla University (2023), and the Science and Technology Fellowship Trust Fellowship.
Dr. Das has authored and co-authored numerous scientific articles, published in reputable journals under Springer Nature and Elsevier. His current research focuses on materials science. He has successfully supervised nine MSc thesis students and ten MSc project students, and is currently guiding six MSc thesis students and six MSc project students.
