Welcome and greetings from the Department of Physics, Comilla University, Cumilla, Bangladesh. The Department of Physics at Comilla University commenced its academic journey on January 16, 2011. The department is maintaining its academic balance with nearly 240 undergraduate and graduate (M.Sc.) students, with 18 distinguished faculty members from various specializations such as Material Science, Multiferroics, Crystal Growth, Thin Film Technology, Nuclear Physics, Medical Physics, Health Physics, Nanomaterials, Materials Modelling and Simulation. There are 5 officers and staff in the department.

The department currently has ten faculty members, all of whom hold PhDs from prestigious universities around the world. Additionally, eight other faculty members are on study leave, pursuing their PhD research at top global institutions.

The department is well-equipped with four undergraduate and graduate labs, one research lab and three classrooms, providing students with a rich learning and research environment. Many of the department’s alumni have gone on to excel in their studies and professional careers at home and abroad.

Beyond academic excellence, the Department of Physics is known for its vibrant extracurricular culture. The department secured the championship title in the inter-department cricket tournament in 2015 and was the runner-up in 2017, 2024 and Champion in annual football tournament in 2022.

Students are actively involved in debate competitions, scientific programs, and university-wide cultural events, demonstrating their diverse talents.
