Dr. Md. Joni Alam completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 2025 from Kanazawa University, Japan, under the prestigious MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan) Scholarship. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Comilla University, Cumilla, Bangladesh. Dr. Alam obtained both his Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh, securing the First Class First position with outstanding academic distinction. Prior to joining Comilla University, he served as a Lecturer in Mathematics at IUBAT—International University of Business Agriculture and Technology for three years.
His research interests lie primarily in applied mathematics, with particular emphasis on finite difference methods, fluid dynamics, nonlinear wave phenomena, numerical simulation, and mathematical modelling. Throughout his academic career, he has actively participated in national and international scientific conferences, presenting his research findings at several prestigious events. During his Ph.D. studies, he presented his research at international conferences held at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic, and the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic. He also presented his research at international conferences in Japan and has participated in at least six international conferences both at home and abroad. Dr. Alam has published several research articles in reputable international journals and has received recognition for his academic excellence and research contributions. Earlier in his academic career, he was awarded the National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh, in recognition of his outstanding master's thesis research.
Born on July 18, 1991, Dr. Alam hails from Kaliganj, Satkhira, Bangladesh. He remains committed to advancing research in applied mathematics and fostering excellence in teaching, research, and academic collaboration.
